Mac OS has a lot going for it, but despite Apple’s claims of a more secure, more private computing experience, their operating system lacks a standard Windows laptop feature: screen locking.Longtime laptop users understand the convenience of this function, and a new app called QuickLock now offers the feature for Mac OS machines. The app locks your Mac, preventing access until you enter in the password of your choice. QuickLock allows you to choose a shortcut button combination, so you can easily launch the app from your keyboard, or you can lock your screen by clicking on the program’s icon.
The app’s other features are nice, if not essential. You can set a custom background image, for instance, or get iTunes metadata without unlocking your computer. It’s an extremely helpful app and a must-have for anyone who frequently uses a Mac notebook in a public place.Quick’s currently a beta release. You can download it for free at quicklockapp.com.
